Introduction: The aim of the current research was to analyze the hegemony of Western media on the intellectual system of athletes of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the media space.



Methods: The research method is qualitative and using general inductive approach. The statistical population of the research consists of university faculty members, experts and specialists in the field of media. In order to verify and transferability, the results and findings of the research were given to four professors in the field of sports science and its internal and external validity was confirmed. In line with the compatibility and proof of research quality, the method of data analysis was given to two referees in the specialized field of sports media and confirmed.



Results: The findings showed that in order to implement their hegemonic principles in Iran by using Iranian athletes, the Western media follow a six-stage process strategy including: problematization, documentation, legitimization, attitude formation, disappointment and disgust formation.



Conclusion: Based on the results of the research, the western media first create problems and challenges for the Islamic system and then document the created problems with the help of athletes. In the following, they seek to legitimize the accusations against Iran and try to create a negative attitude against the Iranian government in the society. These media, by disappointing people about the future of the Islamic Revolution and using the media platform of Iranian athletes, try to make people disgusted with the Iranian government.
