Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of sports diplomacy on winning international seats with the mediating role of political behavior.

Methods: The current research is a qualitative-quantitative mixed research with an exploratory approach. For this purpose, the statistical population of the research is divided into two parts. In the qualitative section, it includes managers and experts who have scientific, executive or both expertise in the field of sports management. In the quantitative section, it includes the middle staff managers of the Ministry of Sports and Youth (150 people), heads of Olympic sports federations (33 people), heads of Olympic sports teams (1023 people). The statistical sample in the qualitative section of managers and experts was selected by purposive sampling. In the quantitative part, a sufficient number of Cochran's formula was used to model the structural equations in the PLS software environment, and the number of 384 people was considered as a statistical sample. Questionnaires made by the researcher on sports diplomacy, the acquisition of international seats by Keshavarz et al. (2016) and Tana's political behavior (2016) were used. In the qualitative part of the collected data, the method of data analysis was used according to Strauss and Corbin. In the quantitative part, dispersion indices such as mean, standard deviation and frequency were used.

Results The results showed that sports diplomacy has an effect on winning international seats with the mediating role of political behavior.
