Abstract

Today's international trade relations of each country can affect its economic growth. Therefore, the present study examines the effect of sports goods export on economic growth in Iran and some selected developing countries.This is a applied research and in terms of statistics and information gathering is a documentary research type. The data of sport goods export and economic growth indicators of Iran and 9 selected developing countries during 1997-1996 on five groups of shoes, clothing, different kind of balls , recreational sport boats , and other goods were extracted by use of World Bank and International Trade Center data according to HS classification. For analyzing data using econometrics and data panel and co-experimental tests, Lymer, Hausman, random effects, Eviews software was used . The results showed that employment indicators, government expenditures, exports of sports products, openness of the economy, human capital and research and development have a positive coefficient, and inflation and exchange rate indices have a negative coefficient on economic growth. In general, according to research findings, the growth of sport products exports has led to an production capacity increase, economic savings, increased productivity and more efficient allocation of resources, and ultimately higher growth in non-economic sectors. Therefore, in order to increase the value added in the sports industry sector as one of the most important economic sectors in most countries of the world, Should develop export of high quality sports goods Be the top priority of government programs.
