Abstract

This study examined and prioritized personal factors especially gender to gain managerial position in physical education general departments of Iran western region including provinces of Kurdistan, Ilam, Kermanshah and Hamadan. The methodology was descriptive-survey. The sample was equal to the population (n=260). The research instruments were personal characteristics questionnaire, management motivation questionnaire by Smith and Miner and a researcher-made questionnaire to prioritize effective personal factors to gain managerial position (p=0.001). Descriptive and inferential statistics such as Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, independent t test and Friedman test. Results showed that women had a lower motivation than men. Moreover, the staff of physical education departments prioritized effective personal factors as follows: higher education and passing educational courses, popularity among colleagues and bright background and commitment to Islamic law.
