Abstract

The purpose of this study was to survey Iran football situation and to determine Iran football strategic position. This study was descriptive (survey) and a questionnaire was used to collect the data. A sample of 96 subjects including football executives, sport managers and experts was surveyed. In order to analyze the data, Friedman test and SWOT matrix were used. Results showed that Iran football was not in a proper situation because the weaknesses and threats of Iran football were more than its strengths and opportunities respectively. Results showed that Iran football strategic position was WT. The comparison of Iran football strategic position with New Zealand and China showed that they enjoyed a better position. It is suggested that Iran football authorities apply defensive and realistic strategies to manage this situation.
