Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study coaches' activities and the relationship between these activities and coaches' attributes (adolescent and junior coaches in Arak). 86 physical education coaches of the general office of Markazi province were selected randomly from the population (110 coaches). The research instrument was coaching activities questionnaire in 13 areas (?=0.8874). Spearman and Pearson correlations were used to analyze the data. Findings demonstrated that areas such as instruction, organizing, coaching role, relation with athletes, physical fitness, technical knowledge, motivation, evaluation, immunity, and duties were accorded good status; but areas such as relation with parents, caring and rehabilitation were accorded moderate status. In addition, results showed a significant relationship between coaching role and coaching grade (r=0.324); between coaching role and experience in coaching (r=0.35); technical knowledge and age (r=0.39); instruction and experience as a player (r=0.303); physical fitness knowledge and course study (r=0.29); physical fitness knowledge and age (r=0.346); and finally relationship with players and age (r=0.363). There were not significant relationships between other variables (p<0.05).
