Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this research was to identify and analyze the factors affecting the success of sports reporters.
Methods: Qualitative research with a systematic exploratory approach was chosen. The statistical population of the research includes professors of sports management and the field of media with at least two researches in the field of the research topic, prominent sports journalists with at least 10 years of experience and more than a bachelor's degree, and managers in charge of publications, radio and television programs with management experience of more than 5 years and education was more than bachelor's degree. The approximate number of the statistical population was 44 people. The statistical sample was selected based on reaching theoretical saturation (18 people). The research tool included a systematic library study and exploratory (semi-structured) interview. The validity of the tool was evaluated and confirmed based on the validity of the sample, expert opinion, and agreement between the correctors. In order to analyze the findings, a multi-stage conceptual coding method with a systemic analysis approach was used. Based on the extracted conceptual framework, 4 subcategories and 30 open codes were obtained.
Results: The results of selective coding showed that journalists who have technical factors such as media literacy and technology literacy, as well as individual factors such as individual characteristics and individual characteristics related to the job, are more successful than their other colleagues in the field of sports journalism.
