Abstract
Introduction: In this research, coaching challenges in multicultural football teams were investigated.
Methods: The qualitative research method (thematic analysis) was exploratory and applied in terms of purpose, and it was implemented in the field. The participants in the research (16 people) were coaches with experience in multicultural football teams. These participants were selected through purposeful sampling and the snowball method until reaching the theoretical saturation point. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview, and the coding method was used to analyze the data from the interviews. Validity and reliability of interviews were checked through valid methods.
Results: The results of the research led to the discovery of 18 key components, including: (misunderstanding and incorrect perception in dealings and lack of proper communication between players as a communication factor), (different mental and psychological problems of players and diversity in nutrition and temperament of players as a factor of individual differences), and (problems of accommodation and different weather conditions in the environmental factor) as coaching challenges in multicultural soccer teams.
Conclusion: According to the results of this research, it can be concluded that communication factors, individual differences, and environmental factors are among the main challenges of coaching in multicultural football teams. These challenges can have significant effects on team performance and cohesion. By adopting appropriate measures, coaches and managers can help improve the performance of multicultural soccer teams and turn existing challenges into opportunities for growth.
