Abstract
Introduction: In recent years, numerous studies have been conducted in the field of esports in Iran, highlighting a growing interest in this domain. However, there remains a need for a systematic review to provide a comprehensive and integrated evaluation of these studies. This research adopts a systematic review approach with the objective of analyzing the status of domestic studies related to esports.
Methods: The study’s statistical population consisted of 26 articles published in scientific and research journals and conferences between 2001 and 2024, extracted from reputable Persian-language academic databases.
Results: Findings reveal a significant increase in the number of esports-related studies, particularly after 2022, corresponding with the growing interest among researchers. The majority of these studies focus on management and planning areas, with most of the articles authored by experts in sports management. Additionally, many of the articles contain cohesive theoretical frameworks and primarily use quantitative methods and questionnaire tools for data collection.
Conclusion: The analysis indicates that although interest in esports is increasing, there are notable gaps in the psychological, social, and economic aspects of this field. Developing stronger theoretical frameworks, employing mixed research methods, and emphasizing interdisciplinary dimensions could enhance the quality and scope of research in this domain.
