Abstract

Introduction: Future-oriented research is a systematic way to view the long-term future in a field of human activity and to draw expansion strategies and ways to achieve the thought future. Stakeholder or actors’ analysis is a process by which the people or groups, which have the most impact and influence on an issue, are identified. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the key players in the expansion of swimming in Iran using Mactor.

Methods: This research was applied in terms of aim and was conducted based on the new methods of future-orientation science with a combination of qualitative and quantitative models in terms of nature. The statistical population of this research was sports management and swimming experts with executive experience in swimming. The sample size in this research was 12 people from the mentioned population. The participants in this research were selected completely purposefully.

Results: In this research, experts identified the main aims and strategies related to the expansion of swimming and then completed the actor-actor and actor-aims matrices. The greatest amount of direct and indirect influence among the key players in the expansion of swimming in Iran is the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Federation of Swimming, with 187 influences on other players.

Conclusion: Providing support and incentive packages with the federation, delegations, coaches, and swimming athletes, determining the selection criteria for the head of the federation and delegations can be among the important influential factors in the expansion of swimming.
